A buyer should therefore record both the current base assignment and any choice-school process they intend to use. Admission to a choice program should not be treated as guaranteed unless the district confirms it.
What does it mean if a Cary or Morrisville base school is capped?
A cap means the school has enrollment-management restrictions; it does not mean a new resident skips the enrollment process. WCPSS is currently considering a 2027–28 enrollment proposal connected to the planned opening of Morrisville High School, but the September 2026 map is a proposal—not a final assignment plan.
The district says the proposal focuses in part on the opening of the new high school and includes proposed base-assignment changes, calendar application options, capacity management and stability rules.
